" We have been taking Shadow & Willow to Lampeter and District Dog Training Centre since it began, the puppies were then 4 months old. They have come on in leaps and bounds with Sue's expert training skills and endless patience.
it's great to see our dogs socialising with the other dogs and their owners and it's great fun for us as well. We as owners feel confident that when we take Shadow & Willow out they are well behaved and come back when called especially important in sheep country.
The Centre has been a godsend for us and we would highly recommend it to anyone, whether you just want basic training or up to show standard, or for anyone with a problem dog. Give it a go, your dog can only get better and you can have a great time training it."

" It was a good day for me and my Brittany dog Kevin when we saw an advertisement for Lampeter and District Dog Training.
Kevin is a first class working dog and when working flat out in the winter he is excellent - but it's when our season closes in March that he becomes a canine moron. After contacting Sue we arrived at our first class with a disruptive, disobedient dog who by then was even showing signs of aggression. Sue's calm approach to our problems, the superb environment that she has at the Centre and her ability to see immediately what the problems were, and more importantly how to overcome them, soon had Kevin and I quietly working in harmony.
When back at home Kev and I practised what we had learnt and after several more visits my moron had become a well mannered, obedient companion who was a pleasure to be with.
Well done Sue and many thanks for all your help, we'll be back for another session or two shortly."
Dianne and Kevin. (Brittany) Parc-y-Rhos.

"I started the puppy training classes with a young Jack Russell who was extremely excitable and noisey. Taking her for a walk was more like flying a kite in a high wind, than enjoying time together. My 6yr old daughter could not take her lead, as Jasmine would trip her up, run after other dogs, and generally be too out of control to be trusted. After completing the basic course, Jasmine is a different animal, on or off the lead, she will walk to heel, halt and sit, come when called, sit and wait, or stay, and although she hates to lay down unless on a cushion, is keen to try, and loves the whole experience of the training group. It has also taught my daughter and myself how to behave with a dog, and get the most out of the relationship. Jasmine really enjoys the socialising, and the group is the main chance she has to mix with other dogs. We will be coming back for more lessons as soon as the Easter holidays are over. Many thanks Sue for a great group."

"Oscar, our 8 month old Springer Spaniel was beginning to get the better of us, pulling on the lead and generally misbehaving! After seeing the advert we picked up the phone and spoke to Sue who put us into the Saturday class. I quickly learnt that I was working against Oscar and making life difficult for the both of us. Sue took the lead on our second session and within 2 minutes he was a different dog, the pulling stopped and he responded to Sue's calm, firm commands. The class is friendly and the dogs have a chance to mix in a safe controlled environment. Sue gave us the confidence to be able to work with Oscar, and not only do we see the results in the class, we carry on implementing what we have learnt, at home.
I recommend giving Sue a call and turning up for these training sessions - your dog will be happier and so will you!"

" I have a six month old Border Collie, who was a little shy, nervous and lacked confidence. Since joining the Puppy Socialising Class, under Sue's guidance he has become a very happy, sociable chap who is always willing to join in with his friends.
I thoroughly recommend this class for anyone with a young Puppy, as it sets them up very well for the next stage of their education."

"I've been going to Dog Training for the last 5 months, with my Rottweiler Lucky and Mitzi the Westie. Sue's advice with two completely different breeds is great, particularly as Mitzi has the attention span of a goldfish! I would recommend the Centre to anyone who wants to socialize or train their Dog." .

"Penny our much loved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Puppy, came to us with a dreadful fear of other Dogs and turned out to be a poor car traveller. After joining Sue's Puppy Socialising Classes, we were guided gently to overcome both these problems and thanks to Sue's understanding we now have a much happier little Dog. We hope to go on to the Obedience Classes as Penny is now confident enough to mix happily with other Dogs of all sizes."

I bought Mishka, my German Shepherd Dog as a Puppy last year. Determined to find a good Trainer, I trawled through a marathon of adverts and business cards all claiming to be Dog Listeners/Whisperers etc. I finally discovered The Lampeter and District Dog Training Centre through recommendations. Those of us living in rural Wales do, with certain breeds have problems with socialising with other Dogs and the dreaded Sheep chasing. Mishka has attended the Centre for the last nine months, starting off with the Puppy class - which she loved! She is now well socialised, extremely obedient and a real pleasure to own.
At the age of about 5 months Mishka became fascinated with Sheep - which we are surrounded by. Sue visited our Farm on a one to one Consultation, followed up by a few sessions at the Centre with her own Sheep. I can now walk her through fields with livestock knowing she is totally under control.
Incidentally, both Dogs and Owners also have a lot of fun!

"We have been taking our Labradoodle, Missy, first, to the Puppy socialisation Class and now to the first level of training. We are most impressed with the classes, and especially pleased with the manner in which Sue works with us, the Dogs and Owners. She is very articulate in her instructions, and very kind and patient with us too. Missy is developing very well, thanks to the instruction, and we look forward to continuing our work with Sue."

"I took Roxy and Pebble, my two rescue Terriers to Sue's socialising class when they were a year old. They spent the first lesson yapping at everyone and pulling like trains! now they are members of the advanced group and have great fun doing send a-ways and working off the lead, my two are now calm and polite and much more fun to live with. Sue is a great teacher, tailoring her methods to suit each Dog and I am amazed at what we have achieved. Personally I get a lot out of the classes, the other members are really friendly and supportive and I am finding understanding my Dogs and building our relationship and communication very satisfying."

"We joined a socialising group with our two young Labradors (Maisie now 12 months and Bunter 9 months) and recently moved on to an obedience training class. The difference the training has made to the dogs (and us!) is wonderful, they are both much calmer and we feel very much that we now control the dogs instead of them controlling us. Direction from Sue is straightforward and easy to put into practise, she is great with the dogs and is patient and encouraging with us!! The group is supportive of each other and a pleasure to be part of. We all (me, my husband, Maisie and Bunter) enjoy the sessions and have learnt so much. Thank you."

"Boris the Westie and Ollie the Bassett Hound have been bringing their Owners Katrina and Lynne to Dog Training Classes since Feb 08. They started in the Puppy Socialising Class and have recently moved up to Adult Classes! They enjoy the camaraderie and fun that they have every Sunday morning, particularly meeting their new found friends. Boris enjoys practising his sit and stays and is a lot more responsive. Ollie's concentration is poor but he is slowly getting the hang of it! The classes have been invaluable to the Dogs and us. Sue has a wealth of knowledge and obviously enjoys what she does, this comes through during the training sessions. We hope to continue our classes for many months to come and would recommend the Centre to anyone who would like to get the best from their Dog.

"We started taking Merlin our German Shepherd to puppy socialising classes when he was 5 months old. It did him the power of good to mix with other dogs and taught him to be friendly and tolerant. We moved on to the training class which Merlin needed. He was becoming a bit of a handful by 7 months and we needed Sue's guidance on being firm and authoritive with him, but in the right way. He is coming on slowly but he is gradually turning into a lovely dog. The class itself is fun and we really enjoyed meeting everyone who came. Thank you Sue."

"I Work for an Animal Rescue Charity and am used to the behavioural problems of many of the dogs that come to us for rehoming. I recently adopted a year old Irish Wolfhound who suffers from seperation anxiety and is also very ill disciplined. With Sue's excellent classes and advice I am gradually getting to grips with his problems and discovering a loving dog who is keen to please.
At work I recommend Lampeter andd District Dog Training to anyone adopting a difficult or disturbed dog from the Sanctuary."
"It was one of the greatest days when I first heard of Lampeter and District Dog Training, to say it changed my life would not be exaggerating. Trixie our 18 month old Labrador, has a fantastic character and really wanted to play with all other dogs, but unfortunately being a big dog she ruled where we went and how we went, usually pulling joints from sockets in the process. That all changed the day we started at the training, within two weeks she had changed, she still has the character, but for the first time in 18 months I felt in control. I started the course all wound up and flustered anticipating the worst from her every time we went out, but now within a couple of months I can walk her near other dogs, she comes to heel, although she still tries to pull if she's allowed, but then again she is a lab! My partner has MS and eventually it would be nice for her to go out with him on his mobility scooter. I have every confidence that Sue will get us there. I really can't thank Sue enough for the change in Trixie and ultimately the relationship I have with her since we both started training."
" I have a 6 yr old Kelpie/Collie cross called Rexy. She was quite unruly and didn't like to listen unless she had to. She was a nervous dog around loud noises such as thunder or fireworks, and did not really get along with other dogs and people. Since finding the Lampeter and District Dog Training she has gone from strength to strength when she hears a loud bang it now doesn't bother her. It has helped her a great deal and has also educated me in how to train her properly. Without Sue's help Rexy would still be like a naughty child!"
"Madga was very unwilling to be handled by Judges at shows and backed off and growled. Taking her to Sue's classes where she has been able to progress at her own pace has greatly increased her confidence. By breaking the process of showing down into manageable stages, and encouraging Magda to take titbits from strangers, we now have a youngster who is beginning to come forward to meet people, and at Crufts she stood well for the Judge and happily accepted lots of attention from visitors to the show. She has ended up joint top Puppy in the breed for the year. Many thanks Sue."

"Bello was a rescue dog and had socialising difficulties with other dogs. Although I have owned many sheepdogs, she was certainly the most challenging. She was displaying typical defensive aggressive behaviour when other dogs passed her in the street, but by taking her to Sue's classes she has improved beyond all recognition. She is now sociable and far more attentive as her anxiety has lessened and her confidence increased. With lessons outside in the fresh air and away from claustrophobic halls, Bello has thrived and really enjoys going now. The atmosphere is relaxed, the other owners very keen and friendly and thus the experience is a positive one for dog and owner.
I would thoroughly recommend Sue's methods to anyone, as all dogs benefit from learning the basics and learning them well"
"My name is Dottie, I am 8 yrs old and when I lost my lifelong companion in March 2008 I lost all my confidence and started disliking everyone, humans and dogs alike. All I wanted to do was be with my Mum 24/7. Mum said I had to start going to see Sue once a week in early 2009 and slowly but surely I started coming out of myself and enjoying life a bit more. It is now 6 months since we started and I am a very different dog. I enjoy the company of most other dogs and so look forward to Sunday mornings that as soon as I see the treat bag being filled up I can hardly contain myself. Thanks to Sue for all her encouragement and long may my Sunday lessons continue."

"My name is Rags and I am a three year old merle collie dog.
I started attending Sue's classes on a Saturday morning because I had an ASBO from our Vet. I have been with my owners from being a pup and live with an elderly working collie whom I respect and to whom I am subservient. I have always been loving to my owners and didn't know that I had any problems until I arrived at dog training. There it was immediately obvious that I lacked confidence which actually makes for a nervous and therefore potentially dangerous dog! The first two sessions didn't go very well at all as I wanted to run back to my security blanket my mum and be safe. Sue recommended a muzzle so that we could all relax more as I was a bit handy with my teeth. This worked a treat.
Just over six months later and I can't wait to come training. I love all my new friends and especially Sue. I know I've improved beyond any expectations. I'm gaining in confidence all the time and so is John who brings me. Under Sue's guidance I now don't have to wear the muzzle and have moved forward and am now obedient and confident and even weaving through poles and doing jumps. Life is good!"

"Freddie our 1 yr old Collie cross was starting to be cheeky (Sue says disobedient) not listening to what I was asking and doing his own thing. I started going to Lampeter and District Dog Training about 5 months ago and the change in Freddie is unbelievable. I had to gain my confidence as I was too soft on him and Freddie knew that. After some lessons and very useful tips and advice we have cracked it, we are now a team and going over jumps off the lead and in control, I never thought we would do that.
This is all thanks to the brilliant work Sue does and the support from other members in our group. Well worth going."
"My sister and I have two Welsh Foxhounds and we all love coming to our Sunday Dog Training Classes with Sue.
Suzie belongs to Mary and they have been going for nearly 3 years. Muddle is my Dog and we have been going since we rescued him from an Animal Sanctuary in August. They have both improved greatly in their obedience, focus and agility. They are a breed which are not recognised for being very responsive to training but they have excelled and they enjoy every moment of it."

"A chance encounter with a lady in a supermarket car park (now known to be Monica) had us starting Puppy classes with Sue in March 2010. Our Pointer Puppy Sassy was a little shy and lacked confidence with other Dogs other than our own. However once we started going to the classes each week she soon came out of herself and is now happy to play with the other Puppies as well as learning basic obedience.
We are so grateful to Sue for her calm gentle approach to the training, which has given Sassy the confidence to come on so well.
Last week we took her to her first ever Show (Bath Championship) where she qualified for Crufts and more importantly really enjoyed her day out and showed so well.
Many thanks Sue, we will be continuing the classes, which we both enjoy."

"After weeks of searching for help with 'Bubs' a friend put me in touch with Sue. We'd already had sessions with different Trainers and after meeting Sue on a one to one basis, I made my mind up that she was the right person for us. Her training methods are outstanding. I have gained so much confidence with my challenging Vizsla and that's all down to Sue showing me the way. Bubs was crying out for me to teach her what was expected of her and has now turned into the most amazing companion. I have so much fun with her at home, carrying on with the training techniques that Sue has taught me. Sue's training has allowed me to get the very best out of Bubs and even though she is still a nutty Puppy, she has such great manners when needed. She gained 2nd place at Pembrokeshire Open Show in June and that's down to Sue showing me how to get her to stand etc.
We always look forward to our Thursday sessions in the outdoors. I don't know what I would of done without Sue and I'm so glad we found her."

"My name is Meg I'm a two year old Border Collie. I was rescued by Rob and Chris eight months ago. I settled well in my new home but after a bad start in life I was extremely nervous and fearful of the outside world, it was a frightening place for me, all those people and other dogs! Then five months ago I met Sue. After two helpful one to one lessons I was put into a class and now train once a week.
Now I have more confidence around other people and their dogs. Under Sue's expert but relaxed training methods I enjoy my lessons and am getting better by the week with the obedience training. My manners have greatly improved. I especially love the agility, it's good fun. My owners are pleased with my progress. So thanks a lot Sue."

"I am an experienced dog owner. I show and breed Great Danes and am also a National Breed Show Judge. Therefore you can imagine my frustration when a dog I'd bred had a seriously bad experience, and I did not know how to get him over it. 'Hagar' had been hurt and frightened by a Judge at a show, and no longer trusted ANY human except those in his family. Unfortunately I compounded the problem by looking for trainers/behavourists and trying several - who ALL made the problem worse, at great expense to me.
But then I found Sue at Lampeter Dog Training.....
Hagar is not totally cured yet, his problem is deep seated and will take time and patience, but he is improving in leaps and bounds compared to how he was. He loves coming to training his body language and demeanour are getting more confident as the weeks go by. He will now approach strangers for a titbit and occasionally forgets himself and lets other people pet him! He adores agility and I'm hoping as his confidence grows this will also help his problem and if we ever get him back in a show ring I will be writing another testimonial, as he was in the top 12 Great Danes in the country before this and I'd love to have the chance to show him again.
Sue's expert help and advice is really working, and we now bring some of our other dogs to training with her and they love it. I think we will be clients for many years to come."
