" We have been taking Shadow & Willow to Lampeter and District Dog Training Centre since it began, the puppies were then 4 months old. They have come on in leaps and bounds with Sue's expert training skills and endless patience.

it's great to see our dogs socialising with the other dogs and their owners and it's great fun for us as well. We as owners feel confident that when we take Shadow & Willow out they are well behaved and come back when called especially important in sheep country.

The Centre has been a godsend for us and we would highly recommend it to anyone, whether you just want basic training or up to show standard, or for anyone with a problem dog. Give it a go, your dog can only get better and you can have a great time training it."

" It was a good day for me and my Brittany dog Kevin when we saw an advertisement for Lampeter and District Dog Training.

Kevin is a first class working dog and when working flat out in the winter he is excellent - but it's when our season closes in March that he becomes a canine moron. After contacting Sue we arrived at our first class with a disruptive, disobedient dog who by then was even showing signs of aggression. Sue's calm approach to our problems, the superb environment that she has at the Centre and her ability to see immediately what the problems were, and more importantly how to overcome them, soon had Kevin and I quietly working in harmony.

When back at home Kev and I practised what we had learnt and after several more visits my moron had become a well mannered, obedient companion who was a pleasure to be with.

Well done Sue and many thanks for all your help, we'll be back for another session or two shortly."

"I started the puppy training classes with a young Jack Russell who was extremely excitable and noisey. Taking her for a walk was more like flying a kite in a high wind, than enjoying time together. My 6yr old daughter could not take her lead, as Jasmine would trip her up, run after other dogs, and generally be too out of control to be trusted. After completing the basic course, Jasmine is a different animal, on or off the lead, she will walk to heel, halt and sit, come when called, sit and wait, or stay, and although she hates to lay down unless on a cushion, is keen to try, and loves the whole experience of the training group. It has also taught my daughter and myself how to behave with a dog, and get the most out of the relationship. Jasmine really enjoys the socialising, and the group is the main chance she has to mix with other dogs. We will be coming back for more lessons as soon as the Easter holidays are over. Many thanks Sue for a great group."

"Oscar, our 8 month old Springer Spaniel was beginning to get the better of us, pulling on the lead and generally misbehaving! After seeing the advert we picked up the phone and spoke to Sue who put us into the Saturday class. I quickly learnt that I was working against Oscar and making life difficult for the both of us. Sue took the lead on our second session and within 2 minutes he was a different dog, the pulling stopped and he responded to Sue's calm firm commands. The class is friendly and the dogs have a chance to mix in a safe controlled environment. Sue gave us the confidence to be able to work with Oscar, and not only do we see the results in the class, we carry on implementing what we have learnt, at home.

I recommend giving Sue a call and turning up for these training sessions - your dog will be happier and so will you!"

" I have a six month old Border Collie, who was a little shy, nervous and lacked confidence. Since joining the Puppy Socialising Class, under Sue's guidance he has become a very happy, sociable chap who is always willing to join in with his friends.

I thoroughly recommend this class for anyone with a young Puppy, as it sets them up very well for the next stage of their education."

"I've been going to Dog Training for the last 5 months, with my Rottweiler Lucky and Mitzi the Westie. "Penny our much loved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Puppy, came to us with a dreadful fear of other Dogs and turned out to be a poor car traveller. After joining Sue's Puppy Socialising Classes, we were guided gently to overcome both these problems and thanks to Sue's understanding we now have a much happier little Dog. We hope to go on to the Obedience Classes as Penny is now confident enough to mix happily with other Dogs of all sizes."

I bought Mishka, my German Shepherd Dog as a Puppy last year. Determined to find a good Trainer, I trawled through a marathon of adverts and business cards all claiming to be Dog Listeners/Whisperers etc. I finally discovered The Lampeter and District Dog Training Centre through recommendations. Those of us living in rural Wales do, with certain breeds have problems with socialising with other Dogs and the dreaded Sheep chasing. Mishka has attended the Centre for the last nine months, starting off with the Puppy class - which she loved! She is now well socialised, extremely obedient and a real pleasure to own.

At  the age of about 5 months Mishka became fascinated with Sheep - which we are surrounded by. Sue visited our Farm on a one to one Consultation, followed up by a few sessions at the Centre with her own Sheep. I can now walk her through fields with livestock knowing she is totally under control.

Incidentally, both Dogs and Owners also have a lot of fun!        Puppies-102

"We have been taking our Labradoodle, Missy, first, to the Puppy socialisation Class and now to the first level of training. We are most impressed with the classes, and especially pleased with the manner in which Sue works with us, the Dogs and Owners. She is very articulate in her instructions, and very kind and patient with us too. Missy is developing very well, thanks to the instruction, and we look forward to continuing our work with Sue."

"I took Roxy and Pebble, my two rescue Terriers to Sue's socialising class when they were a year old. They spent the first lesson yapping at everyone and pulling like trains! now they are members of the advanced group and have great fun doing send a-ways and working off the lead, my two are now calm and polite and much more fun to live with. Sue is a great teacher, tailoring her methods to suit each Dog and I am amazed at what we have achieved. Personally I get a lot out of the classes, the other members are really friendly and supportive and I am finding understanding my Dogs and building our relationship and communication very satisfying."

"We joined a socialising group with our two young Labradors (Maisie now 12 months and Bunter 9 months) and recently moved on to an obedience training class. The difference the training has made to the dogs (and us!) is wonderful, they are both much calmer and we feel very much that we now control the dogs instead of them controlling us. Direction from Sue is straightforward and easy to put into practise, she is great with the dogs and is patient and encouraging with us!! The group is supportive of each other and a pleasure to be part of. We all (me, my husband, Maisie and Bunter) enjoy the sessions and have learnt so much. Thank you."

"Boris the Westie and Ollie the Bassett Hound have been bringing their Owners Katrina and Lynne to Dog Training Classes since Feb 08. They started in the Puppy Socialising Class and have recently moved up to Adult Classes! They enjoy the camaraderie and fun that they have every Sunday morning, particularly meeting their new found friends. Boris enjoys practising his sit and stays and is a lot more responsive. Ollie's concentration is poor but he is slowly getting the hang of it! The classes have been invaluable to the Dogs and us. Sue has a wealth of knowledge and obviously enjoys what she does, this comes through during the training sessions. We hope to continue our classes for many months to come and would recommend the Centre to anyone who would like to get the best from their Dog.

"We started taking Merlin our German Shepherd to puppy socialising classes when he was 5 months old. It did him the power of good to mix with other dogs and taught him to be friendly and tolerant. We moved on to the training class which Merlin needed. He was becoming a bit of a handful by 7 months and we needed Sue's guidance on being firm and authoritive with him, but in the right way. He is coming on slowly but he is gradually turning into a lovely dog. The class itself is fun and we really enjoyed meeting everyone who came. Thank you Sue."

"I Work for an Animal Rescue Charity and am used to the behavioural problems of many of the dogs that come to us for rehoming. I recently adopted a year old Irish Wolfhound who suffers from seperation anxiety and is also very ill disciplined. With Sue's excellent classes and advice I am gradually getting to grips with his problems and discovering a loving dog who is keen to please.

At work I recommend Lampeter and District Dog Training to anyone adopting a difficult or disturbed dog from the Sanctuary."

"It was one of the greatest days when I first heard of Lampeter and District Dog Training, to say it changed my life would not be exaggerating. Trixie our 18 month old Labrador, has a fantastic character and really wanted to play with all other dogs, but unfortunately being a big dog she ruled where we went and how we went, usually pulling joints from sockets in the process. That all changed the day we started at the training, within two weeks she had changed, she still has the character, but for the first time in 18 months I felt in control. I started the course all wound up and flustered anticipating the worst from her every time we went out, but now within a couple of months I can walk her near other dogs, she comes to heel, although she still tries to pull if she's allowed, but then again she is a lab! My partner has MS and eventually it would be nice for her to go out with him on his mobility scooter. I have every confidence that Sue will get us there. I really can't thank Sue enough for the change in Trixie and ultimately the relationship I have with her since we both started training."

"I have a 6 yr old Kelpie/Collie cross called Rexy. She was quite unruly and didn't like to listen unless she had to. She was a nervous dog around loud noises such as thunder or fireworks, and did not really get along with other dogs and people. Since finding the Lampeter and District Dog Training she has gone from strength to strength when she hears a loud bang it now doesn't bother her. It has helped her a great deal and has also educated me in how to train her properly. Without Sue's help Rexy would still be like a naughty child!"

"Madga was very unwilling to be handled by Judges at shows and backed off and growled. Taking her to Sue's classes where she has been able to progress at her own pace has greatly increased her confidence. By breaking the process of showing down into manageable stages, and encouraging Magda to take titbits from strangers, we now have a youngster who is beginning to come forward to meet people, and at Crufts she stood well for the Judge and happily accepted lots of attention from visitors to the show. She has ended up joint top Puppy in the breed for the year. Many thanks Sue."

"Bello was a rescue dog and had socialising difficulties with other dogs. Although I have owned many sheepdogs, she was certainly the most challenging. She was displaying typical defensive aggressive behaviour when other dogs passed her in the street, but by taking her to Sue's classes she has improved beyond all recognition. She is now sociable and far more attentive as her anxiety has lessened and her confidence increased. With lessons outside in the fresh air and away from claustrophobic halls, Bello has thrived and really enjoys going now. The atmosphere is relaxed, the other owners very keen and friendly and thus the experience is a positive one for dog and owner.

I would thoroughly recommend Sue's methods to anyone, as all dogs benefit from learning the basics and learning them well"

"My name is Dottie, I am 8 yrs old and when I lost my lifelong companion in March 2008 I lost all my confidence and started disliking everyone, humans and dogs alike. All I wanted to do was be with my Mum 24/7. Mum said I had to start going to see Sue once a week in early 2009 and slowly but surely I started coming out of myself and enjoying life a bit more. It is now 6 months since we started and I am a very different dog. I enjoy the company of most other dogs and so look forward to Sunday mornings that as soon as I see the treat bag being filled up I can hardly contain myself. Thanks to Sue for all her encouragement and long may my Sunday lessons continue."

"My name is Rags and I am a three year old merle collie dog.

I started attending Sue's classes on a Saturday morning because I had an ASBO from our Vet. I have been with my owners from being a pup and live with an elderly working collie whom I respect and to whom I am subservient. I have always been loving to my owners and didn't know that I had any problems until I arrived at dog training. There it was immediately obvious that I lacked confidence which actually makes for a nervous and therefore potentially dangerous dog! The first two sessions didn't go very well at all as I wanted to run back to my security blanket my mum and be safe. Sue recommended a muzzle so that we could all relax more as I was a bit handy with my teeth. This worked a treat.

Just over six months later and I can't wait to come training. I love all my new friends and especially Sue. I know I've improved beyond any expectations. I'm gaining in confidence all the time and so is John who brings me. Under Sue's guidance I now don't have to wear the muzzle and have moved forward and am now obedient and confident and even weaving through poles and doing jumps. Life is good!"

"Freddie our 1 yr old Collie cross was starting to be cheeky (Sue says disobedient) not listening to what I was asking and doing his own thing. I started going to Lampeter and District Dog Training about 5 months ago and the change in Freddie is unbelievable. I had to gain my confidence as I was too soft on him and Freddie knew that. After some lessons and very useful tips and advice we have cracked it, we are now a team and going over jumps off the lead and in control, I never thought we would do that.

This is all thanks to the brilliant work Sue does and the support from other members in our group. Well worth going."

"My sister and I have two Welsh Foxhounds and we all love coming to our Sunday Dog Training Classes with Sue.

Suzie belongs to Mary and they have been going for nearly 3 years. Muddle is my Dog and we have been going since we rescued him from an Animal Sanctuary in August. "A chance encounter with a lady in a supermarket car park (now known to be Monica) had us starting Puppy classes with Sue in March 2010. Our Pointer Puppy Sassy was a little shy and lacked confidence with other Dogs other than our own. However once we started going to the classes each week she soon came out of herself and is now happy to play with the other Puppies as well as learning basic obedience.

We are so grateful to Sue for her calm gentle approach to the training, which has given Sassy the confidence to come on so well.

Last week we took her to her first ever Show (Bath Championship) where she qualified for Crufts and more importantly really enjoyed her day out and showed so well.

Many thanks Sue, we will be continuing the classes, which we both enjoy."

"After weeks of searching for help with 'Bubs' a friend put me in touch with Sue. We'd already had sessions with different Trainers and after meeting Sue on a one to one basis, I made my mind up that she was the right person for us. Her training methods are outstanding. I have gained so much confidence with my challenging Vizsla and that's all down to Sue showing me the way. Bubs was crying out for me to teach her what was expected of her and has now turned into the most amazing companion. I have so much fun with her at home, carrying on with the training techniques that Sue has taught me. Sue's training has allowed me to get the very best out of Bubs and even though she is still a nutty Puppy, she has such great manners when needed. She gained 2nd place at Pembrokeshire Open Show in June and that's down to Sue showing me how to get her to stand etc.

We always look forward to our Friday sessions in the outdoors. I don't know what I would of done without Sue and I'm so glad we found her."

"My name is Meg I'm a two year old Border Collie. I was rescued by Rob and Chris eight months ago. I settled well in my new home but after a bad start in life I was extremely nervous and fearful of the outside world, it was a frightening place for me, all those people and other dogs! Then five months ago I met Sue. After two helpful one to one lessons I was put into a class and now train once a week.

Now I have more confidence around other people and their dogs. Under Sue's expert but relaxed training methods I enjoy my lessons and am getting better by the week with the obedience training. My manners have greatly improved. I especially love the agility, it's good fun. My owners are pleased with my progress. So thanks a lot Sue."

"We found Sue by accident but it is one of the best accidents we could of had....  We were looking primarily for ringcraft with two of our English Setters, who at the time were 5 months and 2 years. I had several conversations with Sue prior to taking 'the boys' to class which was great because she was able to explain the ethos of the club, the different classes available, their format and something about the other people and dogs in the group we potentially would join.

We decided together that the group most suited to our need for ringcraft  also included obedience and agility. Anyone with experience of English Setters would therefore understand we went along with excitement but also a huge amount of trepidation....!!

We were made very welcome not only by Sue but by the other group members. This is another aspect I really like, everyone is so supportive of each other and are genuinely pleased of each others achievements whether winning in the show ring or just managing to sit on command, (Dennis!!) Sue has a very calm and relaxed style which immediately sets the dogs at ease. She also has many years of experience, expertise, hints and tips which she uses to good effect should there be a specific problem of behaviour to address. She seems to have endless patience both with dog and handler and whilst she sets high expectations, any corrective behaviour is always delivered with great humour!! What I particularly like is Sue does not operate a 'one size fits all'  She observes dog and handler together as a unit and offers advice and suggestions on how to get the best from your dog by working together in partnership.

Yes, my 'boys' are show dogs but Dennis absolutely loves his agility - who'd have thought it!!. They really look forward to their weekly trip to Sue and about half a mile from her gate they get up and start pacing around the back of the car, eager to get there. The important thing for us is to have happy, well adjusted dogs to love and share our lives with. Sue delivers this and so much more and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Thank you Sue for everything."

"I started coming to Lampeter Dog Training after trying a few other trainers who didn't suit my dog's needs.

My Lurcher Vic had become very excitable and dog focused during his 'teenage phase'. His behaviour became so horrible, screaming, lunging, barking and generally disobedient I started to wonder if I would ever let him off the lead again! Thanks to Sue and her brilliant class I got my confidence in my dog back and am enjoying doing agility and obedience off lead. Vic is maturing into a lovely dog (most of the time!) and I am often complimented by my friends and family on his training.

I love going to dog training on Sunday mornings and I'm certain Vic does too"

"Having taken on the responsibility of a rescued Border Collie (Misty Blue) that was frightened of just about everything. We asked around the neighbourhood if anyone could recommend a dog training school that could build her confidence and help socialise her. Well, did we strike gold! Many who had benefited from her experience and knowledge recommended Sue MacFarquhar of Lampeter and District Dog Training Centre and it soon became apparent why. The time and patience Sue has spent with me and Misty has really paid off.

The change in Misty over the months that we have been attending have been more than I could of wished for.

The obedience and agility training is bringing out the best in her as her confidence grows. I have never seen Misty look happier than when she is flying round the agility course. Both of us showing off a little I think. Thanks Sue for everything, from myself and Misty Blue"

"Alfie is a rescue dog and had not been well treated. He likes people but not children and especially not other dogs!

I approached Sue with some trepidation as I could imagine the mayhem he could cause in a whole class of dogs. This did not appear to faze Sue and Alfie fell in love with her immediately. Under Sue's tuition he soon turned into a fairly obedient little dog, especially when there is a treat involved!

The classes are so relaxed and friendly and it doesn't stop at training dogs, with various events organised throughout the year from the Christmas Dinner to quiz nights and competitions. Alfie loves his weekly visit to see Sue and all his friends and we have been coming for the last three years!

I thoroughly recommend Sue's classes, whatever your problem is Sue will have the answer.

"Hi. My name is Sleeva a re-homed Weimaraner, a bit insecure but with a mind of my own! I moved north from the Pennines and re-settled within sight of the Cambrian Mountains where I get a good two mile walk every day. I previously did a bit of heel work to music but needed something more stimulating.

I was eventually introduced to Sue who assessed me and and I was enrolled in one of her Obedience/Agility classes. It's a few miles from where I live near Aberystwyth but I am enjoying the excellent training and the company of the other dogs. I do so look forward to tuesdays and have learnt such a lot in eight months. Being a Canine Behaviourist Sue does not let us get away with any 'try-ons' (she's a sweetie really!) and it's well worth the trip to get to her classes"

"Having moved to this area last October accompanied by three unruly Standard Poodles I needed help.

Sue took us on. We had a one to one session and managed to cure my handling mistakes with the worst offender Thomas in this one lesson together with getting him to pay attention to me.

We then signed up for regular training classes and it was the best days work we ever did. Tallulah our youngest dog has taken to obedience and agility with Sue's careful and professional handling. All the dogs and people in our class have become friends and it is such a pleasure to be there. The dogs have fun, we have fun and we learn something new each week.

I would highly recommend Sue and her techniques to anyone wishing to train their dog to be a great companion."

"Jake and I have been attending the Lampeter and District Dog Training Centre for about 6 months now. Jake was a 35kg, very exuberant 11 month old Labradoodle when we started and was definitely starting to get the better of us! Having only just moved into a very rural community we were struggling to adequately socialise him. There was never any worry of aggression - quite the opposite he treated everyone like a long lost friend with bear hugs all round - not appreciated by all!

A training class was a must for Jake, it allowed him to meet both people and dogs in a controlled environment where he could learn to treat them with respect. Sue has been great and has tackled the problem in a no nonsense but gentle way so that he learns respect but not to the detriment of his character. It's still a work in progress but he can now work off the lead without launching himself at the nearest living thing for a cuddle! Both he and I have made friends at the centre and really enjoy attending each week - we couldn't ask for more.

Many thanks Sue"

"A big thank you to Sue from Lampeter Dog Training. My dog Dice has improved so much in the few months we have been training with you he has changed from a "lager lout" to a "perfect gentleman". People at the events we attend can't believe the difference in him. His sister Ella has also come on in leaps and bounds after only a few lessons"

Sue is a wonderful teacher, she is kind, very patient and sympathetic to the different needs of the dogs and their handlers and has a wealth of knowledge and experience to pass on. The icing on the cake is that it is BRILLIANT fun for both the dog and the handler, an hour lesson goes by too quickly. Lampeter Dog Training comes highly recommended. If you want a happy obedient dog and to have fun whilst training give Sue a call. It's the best thing I've done.

"I just wanted to say a huge thank you for all the help you gave on the puppy group. Both myself and Bonnie thoroughly enjoyed the classes. She is now wonderful when approaching other dogs, will sit and stay on command and her recall is something to behold.

When we began the agility she was afraid of the pole on the ground but within a few weeks she is confidently going through the tunnel and leaping over small jumps. It's definitely a class I would recommend and it's also nice meeting other like minded people.

I think you are a brilliant trainer and dogs respond well to your approach. We'll be continuing our training and look forward to the challenge of the see saw!"

"Read the website it does exactly as it says on the tin! But it is going the extra mile that enhances the experience and Sue's extra curricular - social activities, competitions and agility training are so well organised, where does she find the time!

I appreciate the fact that it is the same people and dogs each time. Hence we quickly got to know each other and the shared support and encouragement make it a relaxed and stress free experience. The class is so friendly and informal that we can laugh at our mistakes without being self concious.

The title should be Lampeter and District Dog OWNERS Training. It is the owners confusing their poor pets with arm waving, pointing, leaning over and not knowing left from right (we've all done it!) who need the training. Sue has infinite patience and humour, correcting our foibles, getting us out of bad habits and building our confidence.

It's obvious that the dogs respect and worship Sue who believes in praise and reward to generate authority - It works!"

"Sue is a friendly, smiling, relaxed, dedicated professional. After driving for over a hour to her place and beginning to think it was too far, having second thoughts and getting a tiny bit lost (even my GPS was lost!) I left there knowing it was worth the drive.

Seeing someone that has never met my puppies before, working them as if they had been trained for weeks within seconds was astounding! Her attention to detail and obvious knowledge of both training and dog behaviour is unquestionable and the lesson we had was fun too!

The quiet country location and facility is excellent, the puppies that had been going there for a few weeks were so well behaved it was unreal.

I have always trained my own dogs and they have always turned out great, so the decision to get 2 pups at the same time seemed rational. In a short sentence........ it is not.

I was nearly pulling my hair out, it is much more than twice the work, I was on the verge of deciding which one I was going to keep and which I was going to move on, my confidence in training dogs took a good dent. Like my puppies, I had bitten off more that I could chew.

One conversation on the phone put a stop to that. Even before I had a lesson, Sue had given me information that I could take on board and continue on myself, but I was so impressed with the lady I was talking to on the other end of the line I decided to go up there and see for myself. Great decision.

I just wish it wasn't so far from my house!

If you have a new dog, do yourself and your dog a favour and check it out. Even if you have trained dogs before, I urge you to bite the bullet, swallow your pride or whatever you need to do to get up there, you may be pleasantly surprised at how much better a professional trainer is.

Seeing is believing and believe me I saw it. Thanks."

"I have been attending Lampeter and District Dog Training with Dylan for nearly three years now. Starting with socialising classes when he was a puppy then moving on to obedience training and agility. We have both learned a lot from Sue's training and guidance, we never get bored! While building confidence in both owner and dog we still manage to have fun during classes as we learn.

Last year Tara came to stay. She's a very fast and lively Llewelyn Setter who is full of beans and as a working type gundog, can occassionally turn a deaf ear in favour of sniffing out any possible wildlife. We train with another group on mondays and Tara is far more responsive , more obedient and enjoys her classes too. Having seen the progress Dylan has made, I am confident that Sue's method of training will ensure that Tara will soon be catching up with Dylan."

                                                                               Taming of a Terrorist!!

"Poppy is a rough coated Jack Russell Terrier that we got as a puppy. Having had dogs before we thought training would be simple! Yeh right! Training a terrorist was different to say the least. Walk on a lead... no, you just lay down! Walk to heel... he! he! As for a recall... in my own time. Chase cars, passers by and play with Mum and Dad's pigs much more her idea of fun! Oh and travelling... let's be sick at every opportunity!

Desperation had started to set in as to what to do with Poppy as she obviously wasn't completely happy, fortunately at a routine Vet visit I saw one of Sue's cards.

I phoned Sue and explained her behaviour and said that basically she was being a right little ****! and could she help. Of course she could and off we trundled to a one to one session, it was a bit of a light bulb time! Mostly it was my fault for expecting too much of her and giving her confusing signals! Not really a surprise as most problems are caused by the Owners. In spite of me we made quite a lot of progress on the first day and were sent off with lots of homework. After the next one to one session Sue thought we were ready to join a group but were they ready for us!

Two years on and we are still going... Poppy has to see her 'boyfriends' Ronan, Alfie and Vic... what a tart! Seriously though the difference in her has been amazing. She walks really well on the lead, mostly comes back! and loves her agility. She is so enthusiastic about getting in the car, she justs sits by the car door! Our group has three 'terrorists' and they all just love Sunday mornings... Thank you Sue for all your patience with us, even though you sometimes think we don't take it very seriously!

The fact that we keep coming back speaks volumes!!!"

"Do not be misled by the photograph - these are two lively young dogs. Ronan the Cairn was proving to be a bit of a handful (not that unusual when it comes to terriers!) so we started with a couple of individual classes with Sue in May 2010, and then joined one of the Sunday classes in the June. He is now a much improved and obedient dog and loves agility.

Reuben the Cocker Spaniel started Puppy socialising in October 2011 and has now graduated to the same class as Ronan. What is particularly satisfying is that as a result of Ronan attending classes he now acts as a role model for Reuben. I have also been 'trained' so training Reuben is proving easier for me!

In addition to the training the classes provide you can always ask for advice and find out what to do when your dog is not behaving the way you want him to do in a particular situation., Everyone in the class is friendly and supportive and the competitions and social events arranged during the year are both enjoyable and an opportunity to meet other members of other classes - both dogs and humans."

"When I first went to Sue with Kingston, I was thinking we would just have a few lessons and must admit I was a bit sceptical about the idea of continuous on-going training. However, I have now completely revised that view!

Kingston loves the lessons (as do I) and there is always something new to learn. Sue keeps the classes fun and introduces the dogs to new things in a safe manner so they have confidence in what they are doing. Many people have commented on the change in Kingston since attending the training lessons. I would highly recommend Sue to anyone and having just got another dog - he is already enrolled for his class!

Many thanks Sue - I am sure our life would be much more chaotic without you!"

"Zara came to live with us when she was 8 weeks old and soon found her feet within the house. We had been to visit her since she was 4 days old and were told that she was the boss of the litter so we knew we had our hands full! She became quite demanding, biting feet etc and we felt like we needed to get some control over her. I contacted Sue and enrolled in the puppy training group with puppies of a similar age when she was around 12 weeks old. Now what I haven't mentioned so far is that Zara is a Bulldog and they do have a reputation for being lazy, stubborn and basically untrainable.

We just wanted a moderately well behaved dog that we could control and one that was well socialised with other dogs. Before we started the classes Zara used to run to her bed at the sight of the lead and once on the lead would dig her heels in and refuse to move. I can assure you there is no chance of moving a stubborn Bulldog even at 12 weeks of age! But after a few weeks at training she was brilliant on the lead and as the weeks went on she was doing 'heel', 'turn', 'come' and 'finish' and even had a turn with the tunnel.

Sue has always been very sensitive to the fact that Zara is a Bulldog and she was excused from any of the exercises she found difficult eg. 'down' and 'sit' for a long period of time, she always walked at her own pace and the others just overtook her if necessary.

Zara is now nearly 9 months old and on the whole is a well behaved dog. She is excellent around other dogs - very calm and friendly and everyone comments on how well behaved she is. She is obviously still stubborn - but we couldn't work miracles she is still a Bulldog after all! But I can assure you she'd be a 100 times worse if it wasn't for Sue!

Although no longer training regularly due to other commitments (we are coming back for guest appearances!) I am totally confident that our time spent with Sue and the other members of Lampeter Dog Training has ensured that we have a wonderfully behaved, loving dog that we enjoy spending time with  and what more could we want?"

"We've been going to Sue at Lampeter and District Dog Training for a few months. I was ordered to do something about Beti when she was about six months old because she was a little too 'into everything' for her own good. We didn't want her rounding up other peoples sheep and chasing our horses as she is collie-ish and has too much in the way of brain!

For a while I couldn't make it every week but now I am here full time. I go every week to the Monday morning session with my lovely group. I really look forward to going, it's so nice to know that there are others in the same boat, no-one is overly serious and we have fun. No one even minds if the pair of us turn up covered in hay! We all just want to enjoy our dogs. Beti actually listens to me now and thoroughly enjoys her agility, although we still require work on 'stay' where she'd much much rather come to have a cuddle instead - my fault, not hers, I hasten to add!

Well done to Sue for her endless patience and clam methods. We really appreciate your time and effort. I am slightly concerned about being able to keep up with Beti in the future on full blown agility courses.... Better get in training!"

"I am an experienced dog owner. I show and breed Great Danes and am also a National Breed Show Judge. Therefore you can imagine my frustration when a dog I'd bred had a seriously bad experience, and I did not know how to get him over it. 'Hagar' had been hurt and frightened by a Judge at a show, and no longer trusted ANY human except those in his family. Unfortunately I compounded the problem by looking for trainers/behaviourists and trying several - who ALL made the problem worse, at great expense to me.

But then I found Sue at Lampeter Dog Training.....

Hagar is not totally cured yet, his problem is deep seated and will take time and patience, but he is improving in leaps and bounds compared to how he was. He loves coming to training his body language and demeanour are getting more confident as the weeks go by. He will now approach strangers for a titbit and occasionally forgets himself and lets other people pet him! He adores agility and I'm hoping as his confidence grows this will also help his problem  and if we ever get him back in a show ring I will be writing another testimonial, as he was in the top 12 Great Danes in the country before this and I'd love to have the chance to show him again.

Sue's expert help and advice is really working, and we now bring some of our other dogs to training with her and they love it. I think we will be clients for many years to come."

RECENT 'E MAILS'

Dear Sue.

Thought you might like to see the best of the pics I took with Shadow and the others on her last training day with you. She has thoroughly enjoyed her lessons with you and has learnt to respond in English rather than French thanks to your patient tuition. We will try and find her a training group in Margam but look forward to being invited to the competition in August.

Shadow will miss you - as we will.

Best wishes.
Catherine and John Francis.

Hi Sue.

I never would of had three Viszlas if it wasn't for your amazing training. I am so thankful for everything you have taught me. As long as you're training we will be there being trained!!

Have attached a lovely photo of my lot. I couldn't even produce a photo so lovely if I hadn't been shown obedience training by you. Just want you to know how much I appreciate everything you have done for my confidence. I love these nutty dogs and I'm over the moon with them all.

Thanks loads.

Best wishes.

Sue.
